With the theme "IT - A comprehensive approach to connecting Customs and related parties to enhance international and intra-regional trade", the World Customs Organization (WCO) for the first time will coordinate with the General Department of Customs and Indirect Taxes of the host country Bahamas to organize the IT WCO 2015 conference from 6 to 8 May 2015 in the Caribbean.
In the context that countries are increasingly looking for cooperation opportunities to achieve regional economic integration results, promote a healthy competitive trade environment within the bloc and globally, the coordination in border management should not be overlooked. between Customs and relevant agencies plays an increasingly important role.
Customs authorities around the world are well aware of the benefits of strengthening cooperation with relevant agencies and the business community. For that reason, Customs is working towards cooperation - coordinating with relevant parties to carry out daily tasks as well as develop policies and introduce new customs procedures.
The ratification of the Trade Facilitation Agreement by countries of the World Trade Organization - WTO shows strong political determination in trade facilitation and raising people's awareness of the benefits of this activity. .
Customs and stakeholders play a vital role in realizing those benefits. In order to effectively perform their role, Customs have been proactively applying international standards and effectively supporting information technology, especially in border management.
WCO IT Conference 2015 will focus on the advantages of connecting links in the global value chain and offer solutions to promote intra-regional and inter-regional trade. The conference will also focus on providing technology solutions to mitigate emerging risks and threats.
This conference will be a forum to connect key actors such as Customs, government agencies, regional economic communities, the private sector, international organizations, development partners and the world. scholar.
This is also an opportunity for participants to share experiences and discuss a range of topics related to facilitation and security of information and goods across borders with the goal of enhance competitiveness and economic development.
Before the conference, a seminar for senior leaders in the field of customs will be held in two days from 4 to 5 May 2015.
