Most recently, Vinafood 2 has signed an export contract of 200,000 tons of 5% broken rice to a Malaysian company for about 410 USD/ton. The delivery term of this contract is from July to September 2014.
In addition to the contract signed with Malaysia, Vietnam is also having the opportunity to export focus on big markets, Indonesia and Bangladesh later this year if the price is competitive with Thai rice.
This information has affected Vietnam's rice offering price, whereby the offering price has increased by about 10 USD/ton, to 405-415 USD/ton (5% sheet).
According to the Vietnam Food Association, Vietnam's rice exports from the beginning of the year to June 20 reached 2,687 million tons.
