According to the Association of Seafood Exporters and Vietnam ( VASEP ) , Colombia is the 7th largest market imports ( imports ) Vietnam catfish , after the EU , U.S. , ASEAN , Brazil , Mexico , China and Hong Kong with tra fish exports to this market in 2013 reached 58.8 million, up 12.5 % compared with 2012.

Imported fish fillets and frozen catfish increased but imports and fish fillets , chilled fresh in the first 11 months of 2013 declined 50 % compared to the same period in 2012, reaching 2,856 tons .
 
Colombia is increasing aquaculture . Fish species account for over 80 % of the total aquaculture production .
