Van Gia Customs Branch was established on November 25, 1993 under Decision No. 410/TCHQ-TCCB of the General Director of Customs. When it was first established, Van Gia Customs Branch had 10 officers and employees. Currently, the unit has 33 civil servants, with 3 working teams: General, Import-Export Cargo Procedures, Customs Supervision and Control.

In the period from 2008-2014, the average annual import-export turnover through the management area of ​​Van Gia port's Customs Sub-Department reached about 410 million USD, and the state budget revenue reached about 171 billion VND.
